Our time together will be focused on conversations about other people's experiences to raise our awareness so we can serve students, adult leaders, and people in our communities well.

3. If your house is on fire and all family/pets are safe, is there something you would be sure to grab on your way out?
DISCUSSION TIME
Have you ever read a book or visited a people that has increased your cultural competency? If so, what book or what place?
Read John 1:1 and John 1:14 - What does it mean to you when you hear "the word became flesh and dwelt among you"?
What do these verses mean when ministering to young people of different ethnicities and socio-economic statuses?
Have you ever thought of Jesus, himself being a guest in the house of the Pharisees and of tax collectors, as a guest in another culture?
If you are a guest in another person's culture, are you a guest that tends to take over or a guest that seeks to learn? How do you accomplish the latter?
Discuss this thought - "We don't have to master learning about other ethnicities; we need to enjoy the process." What are some ways to put off anxiety and enjoy learning other's culture?
Do you believe that a necessary part of being a follower of Christ means that you need to be interested in other people?
What if we were to approach other cultures/ethnicities in a way that asks, "God where are you there?" How would this mentality be helpful in our ministries?
What is one thing you can do this month to get out of your bubble and experience other people's culture?
PRAY FOR
For the incarnation of Jesus Christ to motivate our ministries
For us to put off anxiety of discovering other people's culture
For us to walk alongside of all people with no agenda
For students who are feeling overlooked and misunderstood to feel welcomed in our presence
