Creating a Strong School Partnership

LET'S BE HONEST

We are all in youth ministry because we care about students. Most of us are in settings in which we are close to a school. Our organizations (either you and I or our leadership) want to be connected in more of a partnership with the school or schools that our students attend. This is a simple goal, or so it seems.

1.    Do you have a favorite mug/water bottle/cup that you like to drink from?

2.    Where do you get reenergized the most?

3.    Do you think ministry is more or less difficult nowadays?

DISCUSSION TIME

Which school is closest to your ministry?

On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your ministry's relationship to that school?

Use one word to describe how you feel when the phrase "school partnership" is uttered? Why that word?

Where do you have the best connections at the local school - PTO'S, PTA'S, Clubs, athletics, administration, principals, counselors….

What would it look like for you to serve a local school just to help them with what they needed and not for what you could get out of the partnership?

What would it look like for us to each pick a school to partner with in our community and work together to serve this community? Does anyone have…
-    A current method that is working well and could be expanded
-    An idea of how to systematically pray for the school
-    A current relationship in the school that could show us the needs of the school

Would it be better to divide the schools up or work together on one?

PRAY FOR

The schools you serve by name

The teachers and administrators in the district

The Jesus follower students to be bold in their faith

Us to be led by the Spirit as to how we can serve the school
