So you have chosen to be an area coordinator or just curious about being one. You may be focused on an area, metro, state of even regional network coordinator position. And you want to get a handle on how to do networking on a wider scale. This means your focus is on multiplying networks in your area.
So how can you devise strategies that will effectively unite youth workers and caring adults to reach and equip teenagers in the communities around you?
Define your mission and vision
As with a local network it is important to establish what you are doing within your area.
What are the physical parameters of your area?
What does God want to see happen in your area?
Determine the need for networks
In looking at the area the next step is to determine what communities have healthy networks and and where is the need for new networks. Contacting local veteran youth leaders in the area will help you with this process. As you find local networks sit down with their leadership to help them self assess their health and connection to NNYM. Our desire is to have every network registered at Youthworkers.net and every member subscribed to thier local network.
Map out or list all the networks in your area. To help in this process NNYM will list all of your networks in your area on www.nnym.org if you are registered as the field coordinator
Surface and recruit leaders
When you find gaps where netwroks are needed then it is time to take a field trip. Ask around to other network leaders about potential people who care about networking in the area you have targeted. Then connect and go visit them.
Create area-wide plans
As you look at accomplishing the vision God has for you in your area, here are some questions that can help you.
What steps can you take to accomplish your area-wide mission?
Who has the same vision and passion for the mission?
What can you do together as an area thaat will add value to network leaders and help reach and equip every student?
How can you encourage local networks to be more healthy and effective?
