Things happen when we HELP students pray!

See You at the Pole will be September 25 this year. In 2018, adults helped a million students pray for their schools in the US and other countries.

The ripple affect of student-led prayer will continue in 2019 as SYATP focuses on the theme "IF..." taken from 2 Chronicles 7:14.

The goal of SYATP each year is to encourage students to take the "moment" and make it a "movement." Globally, many are taking that challenge seriously.

To be more intentional about the "moment to movement" in 2019, SYATP and the Network have partnered with ClaimYourCampus. Why? CYC trains and supports students to form on-campus groups that pray five days a week, with a student group meeting each day.

A movement of students praying daily can dramatically change a school. It can also change the students who are praying!

All the interviews, publicity and time involved with promoting SYATP are worth it when a ministry is launched because of the momentum of a day like SYATP. Its leader says their roots are from SYATP in Michigan.

This story from CYC Founder Jeff Eckart gives one example of "moment to movement":

Marion High School is a large urban public school in an economically struggling area. Eighty five percent of the student body does not live with their biological fathers and 70% are eligible for free or reduced lunch.

One spring semester, four students caught the CYC vision for student-led prayer and began organizing weekly prayer groups. Zoe, Noah, Amonte and Madisyn became "Student Organizers" and each adopted a day of the week to lead a prayer group at their school.

Participation started at 15 students and within a year grew to over 40. Using the strategies provided by the CYC app, the students decided to pray for three things at Marion HS:

1. The academic environment.

2. Bold Christ-followers.

3. The absence of violence.

Time went on and students were faithfully praying. Then something special happened.

"Even as we were praying, we didn't notice any change at first," Zoe states. "After months had passed we looked back and said, 'We can't even remember when we've seen a fight.' A big thing just happened and it came from our prayer."

The school's state testing scores improved, making Marion High School an "A" rated school for the first time in decades. According to the principal, Mr. Burke, the timing was not a coincidence: "We've had two fights this entire school year. Twenty-six out of 27 students who took the AP Calculus test passed, putting us in the top five scores in the country. It's not an accident; God works miracles."

Amonte King says, "I'm passionate about the mission and how it gets executed. I believe strongly that prayer equals change."

Zoe agrees, "When we are praying for the school, it's not me praying for the six people in my CYC prayer group; It's praying for everyone who walks through these hallways."

Mr. Burke agrees, "If I was to talk to another school and tell them the impact on our school, I would tell them it's been nothing short of extraordinary. Students caring for each other, praying for each other, what school would not want that, whether it's public or private? Student-led prayer is okay because it's a great opportunity for students to lead in a positive way."

In short: you can make a difference in a young person's life by coming alongside them to listen, encourage and pray for them.

By supporting your student's ministry in prayer and calling others in your ministry to do the same, you help students like these change their world. What they learn on campus, they take with them for life!
