Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
After a crazy day of preparing for our realtor to host an open house, I was in a flow when the doorbell rang. I walked to the front door and no one was there. I walked back to the office, placed laptop in lap, mind semi-engaged, and the doorbell rang again.
This time I was a little perturbed. I walked quickly to the door to open and still no one. Not wanting to repeat the process, I started looking around outside the front door. Then I realized: I had just been invited to a game of triplet "hide-and-seek."
The game normally doesn't last very long, because all the 6-year-old triplets want is my attention and willingness to play.
After a few moments of seeking, Maggy begins to giggle, then Molly, and by the time Landry starts to laugh…I'm belly-laughing, too. Yes, I found them. And it reminded me of the heavenly hide-and-seek and the Trinity's love for me.
Yes, as we seek God, it brings him great joy.
Listen to this from Zephaniah 3:17:
"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing."
One of the biggest obstacles to our walk with God is a sense that because of sin, we are repulsive to Him.
But when my little ones are covered with dirt and mud, I pick them up and clean them off. I reject the dirt, not the kids. Yes, we have sinned and broken His heart. However, we are still the apple of His eye, the object of His affection.
It is He who pursues us in His love with a forgiving heart. We could say, "I found the Lord," but it is He who found us.
My friend, Dr. Nelson Price has stated, "if God had a refrigerator, our photograph would be on it; and if He had a wallet, our picture would be in it."
That's a terrific thought to remind us of His love.
