In my time here at NNYM I have seen a ton of great ministries that target spiritual seekers, but what about those people who are not aware they should be seeking. How are we going to share Biblical truth with youth and young adults who believe our message is outdated and answers irrelevant?
If they won't walk into our churches and they won't seek out a spiritual voice, we must interrupt their lives...catch them off guard as they live their lives and inject truth that brings hope.
I recently met with Sean Dunn of Groundwire to learn more about their media-based ministry that allows communities to leverage mainstream media and technology to do just that. By using 30 and 60-second commercials they are able to sneak in alongside the entertainment students are loyal to and share the life changing love of Jesus Christ. Through buying time on influential TV stations (MTV, VH1, BET) and radio outlets (hip-hop, country, rock), these Christ-centered commercials take light into the midst of darkness.
Click here to view some of the 30-second TV commercials currently airing on these stations.
Not only do the messages communicate hope/peace/truth/love/purpose, but each commercial invites the viewer/listener to have a conversation with "someone who cares." 24 hours a day, trained spiritual coaches are waiting to answer questions, speak hope, or just point people to Christ.
Groundwire is having an impact all over this nation in major markets (LA, San Fran, Atlanta) and small alike. Through the media, the truth is being shared and with their online coaches they are drawing people into conversations that lead to spiritual decisions. From there, Groundwire desires to hand off these students to local churches that are ready to invite them into community and teach them how to grow with God.
If you are interested in learning which media outlets are being utilized in your city, and if you are willing to be a partnering church ready to receive those coming through Groundwire, please let them know at www.groundwire.net/mymarket.
