Brent attend the first youth leader summit we hosted in 2018. He had just been asked to transition out of his youth ministry role and step into the job of Campus Pastor for his church. Brent asked his leadership for a week to pray about the invitation and used his time at Youth Leader Summit to seek God about the decision.
During a session the speaker, Josh Griffin, issued a compelling challenge: "Bloom where we are planted." Brent later told me that in that moment God affirmed his calling to youth ministry, and he turned down the other role. There are countless stories like Brent's, and it's just one of the reasons I am passionate about in youth leader summits, conferences, and training events.
Here are some reasons why I encourage you to seek opportunity to join with fellow youth leaders to be refreshed.
1. Be Recharged
Let's face it, youth ministry can be a rollercoaster of victories and challenges, and far too often we feel alone and isolated in those highs and lows. But when you surround yourself with other leaders who share stories, lift each other up, and reminding you that what you do matters, you experience a surge of inspiration to keep you going strong.
2. Get Practical Training
Now, let's talk shop. Conferences can be a goldmine for gaining practical tips, resources, and training. Attending these events can enhance your skills, keep you updated on current trends, and gain valuable knowledge to implement in your ministry and continue being the best youth pastor you can be!
3. Networking Magic
Who doesn't love making new friends? The networking opportunities at these events are off the charts. You're in a room full of passionate youth leaders, all eager to swap ideas, collaborate, and make connections that will last far longer than the conference itself.
4. Be Refreshed
Okay, real talk - when was the last time you took a breather for your own spiritual tank? Youth Leader Conferences aren't just about strategies; they're about reconnecting with the One who called you to this crazy adventure. Worship sessions, prayer times, and soul-refreshing moments - we all need to have our batteries recharged so we can keep pouring into our students.
5. See the Big Picture
Ever feel like you needed a kick in the vision department? More often than not, these events have your back. Whether it's in the main session or around a table sharing a meal, we will be challenged to think strategically about the future of our ministry, set realistic goals, and cast vision.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, attending a conference isn't just about an event. The focused time should encourage, equip, and refresh. It should move you in the direction of health which will allow you to lead a thriving ministry. Seek out power-packed gatherings that fill your soul, connect you with other leaders, and renew your passion for your calling.
So, what are you waiting for? Dive in, soak it up, and let's keep rocking this youth ministry adventure together. In fact, I personally invite you to join me for an upcoming YOUTH LEADER'S SUMMIT:
