The needs of teenagers are so great that it is impossible for adults to serve them all. But what if we empowered students to serve one another?

Travis Deans equips students to lead through 9 Month Missions Trips, where encourages student and youth leaders to start serving NOW. He is a pioneer of entrusting students with leadership on their campuses and he shares three proven steps student can take to be missionaries on their schools:
Start praying
Travis shares, "Your school is a mission field. It's full of people who need to hear about Jesus! But no mission field was ever reached without prayer." When student consistently pray for their school, they partner with God to accomplish His goals. Youth leaders can encourage student through bringing others around them in community to create a prayer foundation for the school.
Start sharing Jesus
"At your school, you are surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of people who need to hear about Jesus. Will you be the one to tell them?" Travis also points out that effective at faith sharing happens when have been prepared. Imagine if every teenager in your ministry shared why they follow Jesus with five friends? What if those students then shared with five more? The exponential growth would change the entire fabric of the school.
I have seen this happen in my own ministry. I equipped student leaders share their faith through Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Taylor helped lead the FCA huddle at Oceanside High and had a heart for her friend Farah. As she prayed and started sharing. Within the year Farah came to know Jesus and then shared Jesus with her friends!
Start serving their campus
Students have a platform that adults do not have. Many schools that offer school clubs can start a student-led Christian club on campus. There are many parachurch organizations that can help in this capacity like First Priority, Youth for Christ, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Even if there is not way to start a club on campus, your students see NEED within their schools. Are we empowering them to serve those needs or simply complain about them? Let's find ways to help inspire our students show the love of Jesus in practical ways to serve their friends, teachers, administration, and school staff!
