Last May, I watched something unforgettable happen.
A local Bible club at a nearby high school decided to finish the year strong. No adults organizing. No staff running the show. Just students.
They secured the football field.
They lined up testimonies.
They invited a worship band.
They ordered T-shirts.
They brought in food trucks.
By the end of the day, a couple hundred students had heard the gospel, more than once. It wasn't polished. It wasn't perfect. But it was bold. And God used it.
That's what I'd call a crescendo of boldness.
From Symphony to Crescendo
At the beginning of this school year, ministries across the country joined National Network of Youth Ministries (NNYM) in what we call a Symphony of Prayer. Thousands of believers prayed for thousands of schools. Seeds were sown in faith.
Now we're stepping into the second half of the school year. Spring is approaching. And what was prayed over in the fall is ready to grow.
If fall was the symphony, spring can be the crescendo.
Here are three practical, proven ways your students can make a bold impact before the school year ends.
1. Project 3:16: A Simple, Focused Gospel Moment
Mid-March gives us a built-in opportunity. Because 3/16 is widely recognized online, it naturally points to John 3:16, the most well-known verse in the Bible.
Our friends at The Life Book have created Project 3:16, encouraging students to distribute copies of the Gospel of John (The Life Book) to their peers around March 16.
This isn't complicated evangelism. It's simple and accessible.
How to Make It Practical
- Order Life Books ahead of time.
- Host a "Life Book Rally" the Sunday before.
- Pray over stacks of books.
- Coach students on a simple phrase:
"Hey, our youth group is giving these out this week. I'd love for you to have one." - Debrief the following week and celebrate stories.
One focused week. One clear message. One bold step.
2. Jesus Changes Everything: A Week-Long Outreach
Decision Point Ministries has helped students host week-long gospel outreaches on campuses across the country. This spring's theme: Jesus Changes Everything.
Students host free alternate lunches Tuesday through Thursday featuring:
- A short gospel presentation
- Student testimonies
- Invitation for response
- Follow-up connections
What makes this powerful? It's organized. It's student-led. And it's repeatable.
How to Make It Practical
- Identify student leaders now.
- Reserve space on campus early.
- Assign roles (emcee, testimony, follow-up, setup).
- Train students how to share a 3-minute testimony.
- Plan intentional follow-up for students who respond.
Spring is often when spiritual curiosity increases. This provides structure for boldness.
3. Fields of Faith: A Big Finish
While Fellowship of Christian Athletes typically hosts Fields of Faith in October, many schools have found May to be an incredible opportunity. Football fields are often available. Weather improves. And seniors feel the weight of "last chances."
A spring Fields of Faith-type event can include:
- Student testimonies
- A clear gospel presentation
- Worship
- Prayer for the school
It becomes a visible, unified moment of faith on campus.
How to Make It Practical
- Start with student vision, not adult pressure.
- Meet with school administration early.
- Keep the program simple and gospel-centered.
- Prepare follow-up plans for new believers.
- Invite other youth ministries in your area to participate.
It doesn't have to be massive to matter. It just has to be faithful.
Why Spring Matters
There is something unique about spring.
Students feel time running out. Friendships are shifting. Seniors are reflecting. Transitions are coming. Hearts are often more open than we realize.
The seeds of prayer planted earlier in the year are ready for harvest.
And here's the truth we are youth leaders sometimes forget:
Your students don't need you to do it for them.
They need you to believe they can.

Don't try to do all three.
Instead:
- Gather your student leaders.
- Cast vision for a "crescendo of boldness."
- Ask: Which one fits our school best?
- Put a date on the calendar.
- Pray specifically and consistently.
Momentum doesn't happen accidentally. It builds intentionally.
The Symphony Is Still Playing
The prayers haven't stopped.
The gospel hasn't changed.
The opportunity is still here.
As this school year races toward the finish line, let's challenge our students to live boldly while they can. High school is a short window. Once it passes, it's gone.
