If you are a network leader or are passionate about networking, you might be asking, "Why should I go to the National Youth Workers Convention this month in Memphis?" Here are three reasons why NYWC can be a value to you:
- Share community. If your network comes as a team to NYWC, it is a great time to get to know those in your network better. Going to NYWC for me in the past was a great opportunity to hang out and have fun with the youth leaders I work alongside with in my community. Carpooling to Memphis, sharing a room, and sharing meals with each other all help build stronger relationships. What is really cool is there is a network of youth leaders in Memphis who are working with YS - called the Host Committee team - who are there to help you know the best things to do in the city.
- Learn together. You can't do it all. There are too many workshops, speaker, and booths for you to go to. When you come with others to NYWC you can learn together. You can go to different workshops and hear different speakers, then compare notes. The cool thing is the Host Committee will have a place where you can bring your network together to share what you learned from that day. This is a great way to help you to break down what you heard and how to apply it in your church, community, and schools.
- Know others who are networking. It is always a breath of fresh air to learn that you are not the only ones doing ministry together. It is great to talk to others to discuss what each of you are doing. This can happen at NYWC. That is not all: we (National Network of Youth Ministries) will be there with a booth and would love to meet and talk to you, and connect you with youth leaders who are networking in other places.
